Bambike Ecotours Intramuros reviews
75 A nice way to discover the Intramuros area, with great and knowledgeable guides. I took the 2.5 hour tour for $35. The ice cream in the end was a nice touch. The reason for 4 stars is twofold. 1) in their website they advertise small groups however we were more than 20 cyclists in my group. 2) There is quite a disparity in the way they assign bikes, some people in the group who arrived very early got really nice bamboo bikes (some had front fork shock absorber and disk brakes too!). I ended up getting a pseudo-bamboo bike (see pics) and the brakes weren’t even properly working.
The ice cream at the end was a nice touch!
I had a great time on the bike tour! I went on my own, and was put in a group with eleven other friendly guests. Our guide was great: he spoke perfect English, was extremely knowledgeable, and made sure everybody was having a good time. He even taught us stuff about American history that I didn’t know! I loved supporting the causes behind Bambike as well as taking the tour. I wouldn’t change anything, but I would add a longer cruise around Intramuros on the bikes. We got on and off the bikes regularly and I would’ve liked to spend twenty or thirty minutes just following our guide around the area on a nice bike ride. Highly recommend to someone who’s looking for a unique and local way to explore Intramuros!
Great morning with a knowledgeable guide. A great start to a Philippines trip to understand the history. They had a sweet bmx style bike for our 7yr old and a big banana seat bike for me to ride with our 3yr old.
It was a monday so it was a small tour group, just 3 people. Tour guide was very pleasant and she really gets to know each and every person in the group. She is also very knowledgeable about the area, we learned a lot about the history of Intramuros.
Bring a cap, water bottles, wear sunscreen and shades.
We bought tickets from Klooks and it was very convenient.
Oh and the ice cream was the bomb! So many local flavors to choose from, we got ube and queso!
Had a more than pleasant experience with Camille this evening for the Intramuros Sunset Tour - booked it through Klook. The other participants for the tour didn’t show so we had a private tour with her, and she was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot from her sharing of the history of Intramuros. Highly recommended if you want a summary of the area.
Needs your motor license. (valid ID it’s okay)
Thank you for your appreciation.
Thanks Reggie and Dom for wonderful photos of me and bambike.my trip quite short today but it was full with fun. Will definitely recommend to friends.
10/10 service and understanding. I was unable to attend the Intramuros ride due to being unwell for several days. The amazing staff moved my booking back without an extra fee! Excellent service and understanding.
I've taken the tour twice and as a person who isn't really interested in history, I quite enjoyed the tour and learned a few things about Intramuros from our amazing tour guide, Camille. I also enjoy biking so that's a plus. I was able to try the eco-friendly bambike and hope to one day own one
Great cycle tour around historical intramuros with Camilla who was very knowledgable and entertaining. BamBike supports the underprivileged by doing these tours using the bamboo bikes. Good way to start a trip in Manila if you are into History. Nice after-tour ice cream!
The tour guide was very funny, I was entertained the whole ride, they looked after all my needs and I felt safe riding around despite all the cars. The owner is also really kind
Very nice tour and history lesson. Camille, our tour guide, did a great job explaining the history of the Intramuros area and the Philippines as well. Free ice cream at the end was an unexpected treat
Fantastic tour of intramuros with Camille. Rented 5 bikes and also 2 pedicabs for my elderly parents and they absolutely loved the tour. Highly recommended!
Highly recommend renting bikes here to tour around Intramuros. Jonathan was very helpful. Bikes were safe when we left them to tour different forts and churches. Bikes were great, and made our first day in Manila even more special.
Great experience! Loved the history lessons and getting a feel for the city. It was a little over two hours, so bring water, I only brought one bottle, wished I had brought two! The team did a pretty good job of trying to keep everyone safe while riding through crazy traffic. Please keep your head on a swivel, I almost got pancaked twice!
Highly recommended. Thanks Jonathan. Knowledgeable, interesting and great fun. Salamat po.
This is probably the best way to tour the Intramuros within Manila. The company creates products using Bamboo. I am an avid mountain biker, and can really appreciate the design effort and handcrafted skill that went in to the creating these frames. Give them a call and schedule to be part of a tour.
We did the sunset tour with John, it was only the three of us. We loved it! It was a chill bike stroll with lots of information on manilas history and present. John was very educated and his english was perfect. For subset we stopped in a hotel with rooftop view of Manila, a drink at the bar was included.
Overall it exceeded our expectations, thank you!
I really enjoyed my tour with Bambikes around Intramuros in Manila yesterday.
The tour guide Steven was extremely knowledgeable about Filipino history and the sites we visited throughout the tour. There were approx. 15 people in the group and we all rode in a line around the city, with Mark's support, who managed the traffic and guided the group's direction.
Steven always checked if we had any questions and was so thorough that the group didn’t conjure up one question the entire time! We were able to hear the introduction to each place, and then had time to wander around and take photos etc.
When we arrived back at Bambikes, there were cold towels waiting for us and we were each offered an ice cream from the neighbouring ice cream store which was delicious.
Remember to take a bottle of water with you as there aren’t many opportunities to stop along the way and buy one.
If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to add a stop for the group to purchase any drinks, food, or other items from local vendors along the route. I would have happily spent my money with local vendors and contributed to the society I am visiting, rather than at a 7/11.
Other than that, a fantastic tour and one well worth spending 3 hours of your day in Manila experiencing
Pretty good, the info given was rudimentary & delivered dispassionately, and the actual cycling is not that much however overall worth doing to get a general understanding of the layout of Intramunos first & it was a nice social thing to do. It might be an idea for some to rent a bike from Bambike and see the city and the old parts of town at your own pace and in more depth. Staff and guides are very friendly, bikes in good condition and got a nice free Ice cream at the end!
